Automated "Hello, Garci": A Parallel Manual Count Of Votes Is A Must

A parallel manual count of votes is a must because of the very high risk of an automated "Hello, Garci" taking place come May elections in favor of Arroyo's secret candidate and partner in corruption Manny Villar.

The parallel manual count would then be compared to the automated election results to ensure that Arroyo's "Hello, Garci" dagdag-bawas of election results is not repeated.

According to the IT experts, it is extremely easy for the Arroyo administration to manipulate the electronic vote counting because: “The pilot testing of the system was not done, the source code review, as strictly defined by law, was not granted, on-the-spot verification by the voter and the ultraviolet detector were disabled, and controlled access features were disregarded.”

All this clearly shows the Arroyo administration's intention to leave the automated vote canvassing machines very vulnerable and defenceless against a high tech version of Arroyo's "Hello, Garci" dagdag-bawas elections results manipulation.

According to the IT experts, the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines are kept so weak and vulnerable that there are so many ways by which the automated election results can be tampered. For example, preset or ready-made elections results can be stored in compact flash cards to rig or fix the election results.

Accordingly, the need for each and every Filipino to be vigilant could not be emphasized enough. We owe it to ourselves to make our voices heard by COMELEC Chairman Jose Melo and the rest of the Commission on Elections people in our own little ways via Facebook, Twitter, Blogspot, Friendster, etc to save our country and people from drowning in poverty and injustice because of a corrupt leadership.
